FLEXIBLE TRIPOD
Those, who got into the habit of photographing outdoors have problems with their tripods very often. It's not convenient to take it everywhere especially for a long journey on foot. In opera house or theater, during reportage shooting you may have no time and place to set up the flexible tripod. And an extra accessories may let down in the most inappropriate time. There are also many photographers who don't have the tripod at all. For any of these reasons let's imagine a situation that you don't have a tripod right now. So how should you set your camera?
A self-made "flexible tripod" may vitally help you. It consists of a tripod bolt with a long cord or a chain attached to it. Before taking a photo you should screw the tripod bolt with the cord into a tripod socket of your camera (The cord should be long enough to reach the floor). And just before clicking the shutter you step on the cord in order to strain it and pull the camera up. By doing this you will get a stability of camera you need. Using the flexible tripod in the forest is also handy. You can easily fix it upon a tree. It can be heplful anywhere you can fix it on a massive still object.
But you shouldn't forget that you needn't strain the cord to strongly or quickly (jerky), otherwise you might damage your camera.
